Sustainability
We are working to bring a Growcer vertical farm to the Odessa area, to provide fresh, locally grown, pesticide free produce year-round to the Odessa, Napanee and Kingston markets. Tiny Town Farms members will be able to purchase fresh produce on scheduled harvest days, ensuring their order is at the peak of freshness and flavour. Each customer will be able to select their day and time to pickup their produce box at the farm, or we are exploring almost free delivery home delivery (it just costs $5), or we also plan to have pickup available at select farmers markets.
Grown without the use of pesticides, in a controlled environment, our harvests use 90% less water than traditional farming, which is better for the environment. Additionally, our hydroponic farms produce crops year-round, so the one farm produces annually as much as 4-acres farmed in the traditional manner.
Operating using clean energy, we’re building our farms to use solar and small wind power, so no diesel tractors that pollute the air or fertilizers that get into the groundwater.
And finally, our farms use local people to plant and harvest our crops, providing steady local employment in every farm we build.
Good for the environment, good for employment, and good food for the local economy.
